Charming Historic Venue
The Schoolhouse Theatre building was constructed in 1852 as a two
room school, and renovated in 1992 to provide St. Jacobs
with a versatile performance venue and reception facility. Gothic
windows, high ceilings and an open floorplan make the Schoolhouse
an inviting location with lots of ambiance. Conveniently located
close to restaurants and shopping in the heart of the Village of
St. Jacobs, the Schoolhouse is available for rent from
January to September.

Room Dimensions: 33' by 45'
Stage: No permanent set-up, allowing for flexibility of stage position
and seating arrangements.
Lighting/Sound: No stage lighting or sound equipment ~ you must
provide your own

A bright lobby featuring brick and floor to ceiling glass walls, tiled floor.,
generously proportioned to accommodate a crowd with stairs and access ramp
up to the main venue. Lower Level: An open room with exposed
stone walls, carpeted floors and a small kitchenette ~ perfect as a rehearsal
space. Washroom: Wheelchair accessible washroom facility located
on the main level.

| A Landmark Venue
This landmark building first served the community as the Evangelical Church
since the early 1900's.
In 2001, the Church was reborn as a theatre. With beautiful stained
glass windows and lots of natural woodwork, high vaulted ceiling, and
original church pews, the venue retains all its character. Recent renovations
include a new heating and cooling system and new washroom facilities for
the comfort of theatre patrons.
Configuration Of Space
Auditorium: A traditional church sanctuary. Wheelchair ramp for
easy access.
Stage: The oval shaped platform stage is raised 3.5' above the
floor, and is draped with curtains that conceal the stage.
Lighting: Lighting board with 8 stage lights and a small dimmer
Seating: Fixed seating for about 150 people ~ original church
pews! Foam cushions are available for your comfort.

The bright lobby is located directly beside the auditorium area and
may be opened or sealed off by sliding doors. Equipped with a bar area,
the Church Theatre is not licensed, but permits may be obtained on a nightly
or weekly basis.
Lower Level: The lower level features a meeting room with kitchen facilities
- perfect for rehearsals, plus dressing room with private washrooms for
performers. Tables and chairs are available. Washroom: All new
washrooms downstairs plus a wheelchair accessible washroom facility located
on the main level.
