At The Model Train Exhibit
Experience the charm of Waterloo County's rural past depicted in
an HO scale model railway at the Mill in St. Jacobs. The fascinating
exhibit features various local scenes in miniature including a depiction
of farming, barn raising, a Mennonite Meeting House and the Village
of St. Jacobs. A work in progress, the landscape continues to develop
and will eventually be traversed by three tracks with working steam
and diesel era passenger train models as well as a small branch
line freight train typical for Waterloo County during the steam
era. In addition, there is a large display of “O” Scale trains and
railroad memorabilia from the collection of Jan Gleysteen - illustrator,
author and train buff. Open daily.
